Wooden flooring web design project: Floor Seasons

We’ve just finished work on a really wonderful project that has been in progress for a couple of months now: the complete redesign of the site for wooden flooring specialists Floor Seasons. It’s particularly exciting because it’s our first client who is a member of the Chelsea Design Quarter, right on our doorstep here on the King’s Road. It’s a great example of a wooden flooring web design project, focussing on a specific, truly exceptional niche product. We’re so pleased to be working with Mark and Helen taking their business to the next level online.

The project started (as many do!) with a from-nowhere phonecall. After having seen another of our projects, they felt that their site could do well to be a little fresher. As was the trend a few years ago, the site was entirely black with white writing, which looks good in theory, but which many people find hard to read. Their brief – a very clean simple easy-to-use site. Which is of course speaking our language.

A full catalogue of products online

Central to this project was re-working the way in which people found flooring that would suit them. We found out that primarily people want this process demystified. A new client probably knows what they want, it’s just a case of narrowing it down to a product they feel suits their home, so we have created some simple filters which make this process straightforward.

Another part of the project we really like is the idea of being able to see a closeup of the product and then also see it in situ, within a finished home or workplace. So we developed a simple ‘flip’ system between sample and product which appears throughout the main copy pages on the site, where one photo is sample, another is a beautiful interiors shot showing how the product looks around furniture or in different shades of daylight.

From cabinetry to wooden flooring web design

In the past few years we’ve worked on several great projects centring on web design for interiors specialists – this is the latest of several and it’s always so inspiring to bring great craftsmanship to the web. The bonus is that usually these pieces of work are accompanied by beautiful photographs of homes we would never normally have a view into. This inspires us, and of course inspires our clients’ customers too.
