Alpenglow Ski is a skiing holiday company specialising in chalet breaks around Europe. The word ‘alpenglow’ itself refers to the beautiful colour the mountains reflect as the sun sets – and this sets the stage for the entire brand look.
As part of this fantastic project, we’ve designed the identity for Alpenglow which was inspired by modern ski and snowboard brands we admire. Our idea is that the brand can be flexible to expand beyond the website and make an impact in resort.
THE ALPENGLOW BRAND
The Alpenglow brand was a project we had a lot of fun with – it’s not every day you get to design a holiday company’s logo – and we enjoyed the idea of working with the colours of ‘the alpenglow’ while maintaining a modern fresh identity.
For now the tee shirts are a concept, but it’s our hope that the boldness of the brand design can expand to appear on apparel, signage and all manner of brand promotion across Europe.
THE Alpenglow Ski website design
The website is what we’d term a ‘big picture’ site but with all sorts of cool twists – such as the large type that appears when a user searches for their holiday.
The website is completely responsive – working on every device from a smartphone or tablet to a desktop computer.
BROCHURE vs eCOMMERCE
The team approached us to work on a completely new design ‘holiday brochure’ website which would be flexible to allow many different resorts and chalets to be featured. The itself isn’t e-commerce, meaning the team at Alpenglow can customise every holiday for the end user’s group. It’s this bespoke experience which is at the heart of Alpenglow’s offering.
We developed the idea of a ‘mood search’, led chiefly by the type of holiday one might search for – ‘for beginners’; ‘with great après-ski’, ‘somewhere picturesque’, etc – rather than simply to a resort the user already knew. The idea is that Alpenglow can then direct their customers to great holidays in places that may be less obvious.
We approached Richard Chapman Studio to help us build a brand new website and design a logo for a start-up ski travel agency business. We had very set ideas as to what we wanted from the website as well as the overall feel and usability. These guys managed to fulfil every requirement asked of them but also suggested ways to improve the site and customer experience that we hadn’t even considered. We are super pleased with the results and have had glowing feedback from our new clients.
