We love working with wine retail, and it has always been an ambition to devise a completely new high street brand design. So this is it – and Thirsty Cambridge is the first branch to open, with others planned.
We devised the idea of an illustrated flag with custom-drawn typography: part of a graphic language of protest which is at the heart of this piece of work.
In addition to the logo itself, a secondary part of the brand identity is an illustration of protesters holding placards and banners, which forms the backdrop to the shopfront and other promotion.
The first Thirsty retail shop is in the heart of Cambridge and has our new logo front and centre. That was the first piece of design work we’ve completed for the brand to appear in public, and then in June 2016, their e-commerce website launched.
Getting an entire wine shop online is no small undertaking.
In particular getting every single wine bottle photographed and online involved some quick thinking and possibly a little liquid bribery – the same principle that had been applied to getting hold of the website address…
But WeAreThirsty.co.uk version 1 is up and running and looking good too. It’s pretty great for an e-commerce shop for a shop in Cambridge – it has a gutsy, clear custom design and is of course totally responsive, meaning you can swipe and buy wherever you are, to be delivered throughout the UK.
