I love it when a project comes out of the blue. The phone rings, someone has a fantastic idea for improving their business and wants us to be a part of it. Such a great moment. That conversation usually runs in a certain direction – plans for the coming years; growth; new products. Maybe the goal is to expand their network or achieve a very different corporate look. We do all sorts of design work from identity to print but ultimately nearly every project we work on today involves an online presence. And the question always comes up every time. So… how much does a website cost?
If only it was easy to ‘email over a pricelist’ (as I’m often asked to do). To get to the magic number we need to listen to your brief and then write a proposal that answers these questions – and comes up with more than a few handy suggestions of our own.
For me, there’s also a point of pride in giving a tailored quote. Because our clients don’t fit into boxes, our work isn’t packed up with a bow and given a 1, 2, 3 pricetag. We leave the template-type projects to the likes of SquareSpace or Wix.
Our websites are all custom designed which means starting from scratch with a quote each time. That license to be creative and original comes at, shall we say, a price. But how do we come to that?
Rather than categorise clients, it’s a easier to divide projects up into a range of different approaches companies request from us…
My guess is that your website project might fit into one of these, but with a ‘but I also need…‘ kind of caveat. And that’s why we work on a custom quote for a custom client.
Can I flip it around: why not tell us what you want to do – and spend?
There’s every chance that we can find a way of working to your budget. Why not give me a call on 020 7351 4083.
