Kunstsentrene i Norge (KiN)

Kunstsentrene i Norge, or simply KiN, Norway’s national network of regional art centres, needed a new identity capable of working across very different audiences: the arts centres it represents nationally and the individual artists applying to its annual grant scheme, Regionale utstillingsmidler (Regional Exhibition Grants).

We also designed a related logo for the KiOR group, which holds primary responsibility for externally representing the art centres’ work with art in public spaces and is currently developing a strategy for this work within the KiN network.

The new logo and visual identity system has been extended across grant advertising and promotional collateral in print, online and with our guidelines has also been applied to KiN’s existing website.

The result balances personality with clarity, distinctive enough to represent an organisation with roots in a 1970s artist-led movement, disciplined enough to meet the practical demands of a government grant scheme.

What we did

“Working with Kris and Richard has been really pleasant. They make tough discussions feel less difficult and they’re friendly and always available if needed, which is perhaps a benefit of hiring a small design studio where people are passionate about what they do.

“In my experience, they check in — ‘are we understanding you correctly when we hear this…’ — which makes communication go smoothly. We’ll keep in touch for potential future projects.”
